Bloomfield partners with Rutgers Robert Johnson Wood Medical School for opioid overdose prevention training Mar. 19 at 2 p.m.

The Bloomfield Municipal Alliance Committee along with the Bloomfield Public Library and Bloomfield Health Department are once again partnering with Rutgers Robert Johnson Wood Medical School for a presentation on opioid overdose prevention. The free March 19 training will take place virtually and all participants will be mailed a naloxone nasal spray.

The township of Bloomfield is holding a menstrual hygiene product drive throughout the month of March in honor of Women’s History Month. Items that will be collected include tampons, pads, panty liners, menstrual cups, period panties and deodorant.

Wilson, Pastor of St. Matthew AME Church in Orange, will present an Emergency Food Distribution Event on Thursday, March 4th at St. Matthew AME Church in Orange to help families negatively impacted by the Coronavirus. The 1,000 boxes of food that will be distributed are meant to benefit families who have been forced out of work and are not able to afford food.

Essex County forms partnership with clergy to promote COVID-19 vaccination

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced a partnership with urban clergy members to encourage residents in black and brown communities to receive the COVID-19 vaccination during a press conference at the Essex County COVID-19 Vaccination Center at Essex County College in Newark. During the press event, ministers from religious organizations in Newark, East Orange and Bloomfield, including Rev. Joe Carter, Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, received their first dose of the vaccination.
