Bloomfield Public Schools and the Bloomfield Public Library have partnered together for Read Across America Week.

This is an annual event in which members of the community typically would go to schools and libraries to read stories to children. As a result of COVID-19, the story times were virtual and were filmed so that they could be shared with the schools and the public.

โ€œDuring the pandemic, we have not been able to do everything we could before, but I am thrilled that we were able to continue with the Read Across America tradition,โ€ said Mayor Venezia. โ€œOur library and our schools did an outstanding job putting this all together and the children benefited greatly as a result.โ€

โ€œEvery year I look forward to Read Across America Week because of the way it brings members of the community together for such a great cause,โ€ said Councilwoman and Liaison to the Public Library Jenny Mundell. โ€œWe were fortunate to have such a diverse group of readers that were engaged in this effort. I would like to thank the Library Boardโ€™s Community Engagement Committee including Cheryl Locastro and Ellen Luca for their hard work to make this happen.โ€
