Newark will hire a new security guard company after its current provider, Pro Cops Security, allegedly violated wage rate laws. Pro Cops Security owes its security guards more than $1.05 million in back earnings, lost vacation time, and holiday pay. It is contacted with Newark through Sep. 29. Bids for new contractors are open.
