People can attend NAACP-Newark’s Freedom Fund Gala on May 2. It is from 1-5 p.m. at 1020 Broad St. in Newark. Lieutenant Gov. Dr. Dale G. Caldwell will be a guest speaker at the event. Tickets are available online for purchase. Proceeds will benefit the NAACP-Newark branch.

People can attend a meeting about advancing equity and inclusion for LGBTQ+ youth in schools on May 4 in Newark. It is at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will take place at Branch Brook Park inside the Stephen N. Adubato Community Center. Led by the state Advisory Committee on Advancing LGBTQIA+ Youth Equity and Inclusion in Schools. It will discuss ways to support LGBTQ+ youth through systems review, professional learning, data analysis, recommendations, and more. RWJBarnabas Health will open a farm community center, “Harvest,” in Newark on May 4. It will include more than 1,200 square feet of cold storage for produce, an industrial kitchen, and demo kitchen and cafe, among other features. Located at 46 Halsey St.

It is from 5-8 p.m. at the RWJBarnabas Health Ambulatory Care Center, 200 South Orange Ave. There will be information about celiac disease care and management, resources, and gluten-free food samples.
