The Essex County Correctional Facility Civilian Task Force will host a public meeting on Saturday, January 29th to discuss the use of special housing units at the Essex County Correctional Facility.
Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. and the Essex County Board of County Commissioners will present a special Holiday Emergency Food Distribution Event to help families negatively impacted by the Coronavirus. There will be 1,000 frozen turkeys and boxes of non-perishable food distributed. The program is meant to benefit families who have been forced out of work and are not able to afford food.
Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. invites Essex County residents to participate in an Essex County Community Health Assessment Survey. The results of the survey will help the Essex County Public Health Office identify health issues affecting the Essex County community and create a public health plan to raise awareness and promote wellness. Residents can access the on-line survey at www.EssexCountyNJ.org and clicking on the "Community Health Assessment Survey" link. Responses will be collected until March 31, 2022.
Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. invites the public to celebrate the holiday season and participate in the Annual Essex County Historic Holiday House Tour. After a year hiatus because of the pandemic, this year's tour includes 10 Essex County historic sites, which will be decorated for the holidays and open to the public for a weekend tour. The tour includes Essex County Kip's Castle and the Walther House at the Essex County Presby Memorial Iris Gardens. The self-guided house tour will be held Saturday, December 4th and Sunday, December 5th at the following locations:
The Township is once again partnering with the Neighbor to Neighbor Network to help families in need during the holiday season by providing clothes and gift cards. Bloomfield is asking residents that can help to sponsor a family so that that family has some basic needs met during the holidays.
The Bloomfield Fire Department continued its efforts to continually train members by participating in a firefighter success workshop over the past week. In their workshop, “10 Biggest Mistakes Firefighters Make With Their Fitness,” Chief Dan Kerrigan and Captain Jim Moss share how firefighters of all fitness levels can successfully overcome the most common obstacles to improving their fitness.
