“Clean & Strong Bloomfield” Initiative Aims to Improve Quality of Life for Residents

Mayor Michael Venezia, Councilwoman Sarah Cruz and Councilwoman Jenny Mundell are extremely excited to announce a new initiative called “Clean & Strong Bloomfield”, that encourages community engagement by soliciting feedback from residents as well as town employees about quality of life issues, suspected criminal activity, infrastructure or roadway issues, or any situation that detracts from a safe and harmonious community environment. The annual Spring town-wide cleanup on Saturday, April 30, will serve as the kick-off event for this new campaign.

Essex County Turtle Back Zoo Closes Exhibits to Protect Birds from Avian Influenza

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced that all outdoor exhibits featuring birds at Essex County Turtle Back Zoo will promptly begin to close due to the emergence of the newly discovered highly pathogenic avian influenza. The exhibits are being closed as a precautionary measure to protect the birds from exposure to the influenza and to help stop the spread of the disease.

President Biden Signs Omnibus Package Including Funding for Bloomfield Infrastructure

As part of the $1.5 trillion spending package signed today by President Biden, Bloomfield will receive critical funding to replace 30 lead service lines along Main Terrace in Bloomfield. Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill worked with Mayor Venezia and the Bloomfield Town Council to ensure that this funding be included in the package.

Bloomfield First-Ward Councilwoman Jenny Mundell will be hosting a virtual community meeting on Thursday, March 10 along with Mayor Michael Venezia at 7pm. These meetings serve as a way to meet with residents in an informal setting, allowing for a strengthened relationship with the community.

Bloomfield Fire Department Trains 24 as Instructors

The Bloomfield Fire Department recently had 24 members trained as fire instructors. This 35 hour course meets the standards in NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Professional Qualifications. This course will improve the delivery of firefighter training for in-service personnel.
