Essex County announces Virtual Cherry Blossom Festival for 2021

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced that the 2021 Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival in Essex County Branch Brook Park in Newark will be held virtually because of the ongoing conditions created by the pandemic. The County Executive is proud to welcome Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey as the premiere sponsor of the virtual festival.

Essex County’s Apr. 1 Newark food distribution will include frozen turkeys

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. and the Essex County Board of County Commissioners will present a special Spring Holiday Emergency Food Distribution Event to help families negatively impacted by the Coronavirus. There will be 1,000 frozen turkeys and boxes of non-perishable food distributed at the Cherry Blossom Welcome Center in Essex County Branch Brook Park. The program is meant to benefit families who have been forced out of work and are not able to afford food.

Essex County urges federal delegation to get more vaccines

On Tuesday, March 23rd, Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. called upon members of Essex County's Federal delegation to urge President Biden to allocate more COVID-19 vaccine doses to Essex County. The letter was sent to U.S. Senators Cory Booker and Robert Menendez; U.S. Representatives Donald M. Payne, Jr., Mikie Sherrill, Albio Sires and Tom Malinowski; along with Governor Phil Murphy.

Essex County’s Mar. 25 food distribution will be at Hendricks Field Golf Course in Belleville

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr., and the Essex County Board of County Commissioners will present an Emergency Food Distribution Event on Thursday, March 25th at Essex County Hendricks Field Golf Course in Belleville to help families negatively impacted by the Coronavirus. The 500 boxes of food that will be distributed are meant to benefit families who have been forced out of work and are not able to afford food. Residents will receive one box of non-perishable food items.

Essex County to begin special initiative to vaccinate teachers and school support staff

On Friday, March 19th, Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced a new initiative to provide vaccinations to teachers and school support staff working at public, private, charter and parochial schools in Essex County. Teachers and support staff who reside or work in Essex County can visit www.EssexCOVID.org to make an appointment. Special appointment times will be held Monday, March 22nd to Friday, March 26th in the evening.

The 500 boxes of food that will be distributed are meant to benefit families who have been forced out of work and are not able to afford food. Residents will receive one box of non-perishable food items.
