Bloomfield Conducts Annual Fall 2022 Town-wide Cleanup

The Fall weather was perfect this past weekend for the participants of the Bloomfield Fall Town-wide Cleanup, who rolled up their sleeves and spent Saturday morning picking up litter and other debris throughout the Township. More than 425 residents participated in the event, cleaning up and beautifying over 28 locations.

Mark Richardson Art Gallery on Display at Bloomfield Civic Center

The Township of Bloomfield’s Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department is curating an art gallery by the late artist Mark Richardson that will include sketches, collages, and paintings. “50 Years of Work by Artist Mark Richardson” will be on display at the Bloomfield Civic Center (84 Broad Street) from October 15 - November 11. A free, special reception will be held on the day the gallery opens (Saturday, October 15th) from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM, with live music and refreshments.

Bloomfield to Hold Free Shredding Event for Residents on Saturday, October 8 at Pulaski Park

The Township of Bloomfield will be conducting a free shredding event for residents on Saturday, October 8 at the Pulaski Park parking lot. Pulaski Park is located at 24 Mount Vernon Avenue and the event will take place between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM rain or shine. In past years over 14 tons of paper were shredded during shred events in Bloomfield.

Bloomfield to Hold Voter Information Session on Thursday, October 6

On Thursday, October 6, the Bloomfield Commission on Civil Rights invites residents to attend a voter information session at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom. There will be a discussion on voting and personnel will be available to answer any questions participants may have about the 2022 election.

Bloomfield Community Garden Committee Donates 540 Pounds of Fruit and Vegetables to Local Food Pantry

The Township of Bloomfield’s Community Garden Committee recently donated 65 pounds of fresh produce to the local food pantry, bringing the total amount for the season to a whopping 540 pounds. This included an immense variety of vegetables including tomatoes, various kinds of squash, peppers, kale, collards, swiss chard, cucumbers, basil, and peppermint.

Due to a water main break on the City of Newark supply line in Belleville this morning, the Township of Bloomfield has issued an Emergency Announcement declaring a boil water advisory.

Township of Bloomfield to Offer Payment Plan to Residential Customers with Unpaid Water Charges

Please be advised that State law requires the Township of Bloomfield to offer residential customers an installment plan for unpaid water charges that accrued between March 9, 2020 and March 15, 2022. Beginning immediately, the Township will be mailing utility payment plan letters to all residential customers who currently have arrearages during the state’s moratorium. The arrearages will be payable in 12 equal monthly installments beginning in October 2022.

Mayor Venezia’s Back to School Party will Give Away Book Bags to Pre-K through 8th Grade Students

On Sunday, August 28, Bloomfield Michael Venezia and the Bloomfield Township Council will host their Annual Back to School Party and book bag giveaway. The afternoon will feature food, games, a DJ playing music, and a book bag giveaway for Pre-K through 8th grade students. It will take place at Felton Field, 145 Floyd Avenue, from 12:00-3:00pm. Early registrants will receive a book bag.
