“Fire Prevention Block Party” planned with Montclair fire on Oct. 3. It is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Nishuane Park. There will be food and drinks, live demonstrations, and giveaways.

Rosedale Cemetery walking tour planned with Montclair History Center on Oct. 4. The guided tour, scheduled from 1:30-3:30 p.m., is about two miles long. Attendees will learn about the history of the cemetery, grave imagery, and the people buried there. Tickets available online.

NJ Transit will temporarily operate on a modified train schedule from Oct. 11 to Nov. 14 as Amtrak works on the Portal North Bridge. The bridge will replace the 114-year-old swing bridge over the Hackensack River, and is meant to improve long-term reliability and capacity along the Northeast Corridor. The modified schedule will affect all train lines except the Atlantic City Rail Line. Adjusted schedules are available online.
