N.J. nursing home inspections delayed, state report finds

New Jersey nursing homes were inspected every 20 months between Jul. 1, 2022 and Mar. 31, 2026 while state regulations mandate yearly inspections, according to a state report. The report comes from the N.J. Department of Health, which oversees the state’s 350 nursing homes. It found that more than 25% of facilities were not inspected in at least two years, and more than 80% of inspections from nursing home complaints were delayed because of staffing shortages.
