Guided tour of the Crane House and Historic YWCA planned with Montclair History Center on Sep. 19. Tours start at 12 p.m., 1 p.m., and 2 p.m. at 110 Orange Rd. Visitors can write letters to the future and decorate envelopes that will be sealed and buried at the James Howe House in collaboration with the Montclair Community Time Capsule. Free admission.

Montclair’s Church Street will close to traffic from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sep. 18-20. The road will become a pedestrian walkway, as part of the township’s pedestrianization project.

New Jersey is allocating an additional $16 million to support the state’s 988 suicide prevention system, which includes opening five crisis stabilization centers across N.J. The additional funding comes after the state Department of Human Services found that crisis response programs will cost $71.4 million over 12 months, which is nearly triple the amount approved in the state’s 2026-27 budget signed in June. Crisis stabilization centers are meant to connect people to trained counselors and other forms of aid. Officials plan to open facilities in Bergen, Camden, Essex, Monmouth, and Morris counties.
