Family sued Glen Ridge school district over claims teacher groomed, sexually harassed student

The family of a student enrolled at Glen Ridge’s Ridgewood Avenue School filed a lawsuit claiming that a teacher groomed and sexually harassed their child. The complaint was filed in N.J. Superior Court in Newark and claims that now-former fifth grade teacher Gerald White sexually abused the child when she was between the ages of 10 and 15. The lawsuit named Glen Ridge school board and then-Superintendent Kyle Arlington, among other district officials. The family is seeking $10 million and punitive damages over physical, emotional, and mental injuries and trauma.
