Food distribution and A1C health screening planned with Partnership for Maternal and Child Health of Northern NJ on Jul. 11 in Irvington. It is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 50 Union Ave. Food bags include fresh produce and A1C screenings measure blood sugar levels. Registration is required. Free admission.

College students can apply to intern at Rep. LaMonica McIver’s N.J. district office in Newark or in Washington D.C. by Jul. 10. Interns will conduct research, attend hearings and briefings, work with residents, and perform administrative tasks. Internships begin in the fall of 2026. Application guidelines available online.

New Jersey’s public worker pension fund sold Geo Group Inc. corporate bonds earlier this year. The bonds are valued at more than $800,000. Geo Group is the private prison company that owns Delaney Hall, a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement concentration camp in Newark. The state pension fund is still invested in Palantir Technologies, a data-mining company that provides information to ICE agents.
