Essex County residents can share ideas for improving road safety during a virtual meeting on Oct. 14. Essex County public works will lead the meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feedback will help shape the county’s Safe Streets for All Action Plan, which aims to improve safety for pedestrians, transit riders, drivers, and bicyclists. There will be a presentation from about the Safe Streets for All program. Registration is required.

“Bats of New Jersey” educational program planned at Essex County Environmental Center on Oct. 14 in Roseland. It is from 5:30-7 p.m. Attendees will learn about bats and take home plans to build a bat house. Designed for children in grades 1-5. Registration is required.

Seniors ages 65+ can receive assistance filing applications to N.J. property tax relief programs on Oct. 16 in Newark. Assistance is from 4:30-7 p.m. at Cherry Blossom Welcome Center in Branch Brook Park. Representatives will assist with completing the state’s combined application, called PAS-1, that encompasses Senior Freeze, Anchor, and Stay NJ. Government photo ID is required. Applications must be filed by Oct. 31.
