Community design workshop for East Orange and Orange residents part of the Free Driveway For All initiative planned on Feb. 5 in Orange. FDW4A addresses safety, walkability, and access between neighborhoods, transit, and corridors along Freeway Drive and Main Street. In the spring, FDW4A participants will install temporary asphalt art murals in Orange and East Orange to demonstrate possible infrastructures to improve safety for walkers, bikers, and drivers. The workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. at The HUUB, 35-47 Cleveland St. Registration is required.

Online fair housing workshop for tenants and homebuyers planned by NJ Citizen Action on Feb. 6. The workshop begins at 6 p.m. Attendees will learn how to protect themselves against housing discrimination and their constitutional rights under the N.J. Fair Housing Act. Registration is required.

Online presentation discussing constitutional disability protections planned by Garden State Equality and N.J. Division on Civil Rights on Feb. 6. It is from 2-3 p.m. and will include three state civil rights laws that exist to enforce disability protections, and how to file a complaint through NJ BIAS, a state-based investigation system. TAPinto Newark is hosting a free breakfast on Feb. 6 where it will announce its 2025 list of power brokers in Newark, the same day N.J. Chamber of Commerce will hold its “Walk to Washington” event. About 900 state leaders are expected to participate in a two-day event in Washington, D.C., leaving from Newark Penn Station on Feb. 6 at 11:35 a.m. Hundreds of N.J. leaders are expected to attend the opening breakfast at the DoubleTree by Hilton Newark Penn Station from 9-11 a.m. Breakfast is free. Tickets are available online.

Ten of N.J.’s 12 candidates for governor will participate in one of two gubernatorial primary debates at Rider University on Feb. 2 and Feb. 4 in Lawrence Township. Both debates will be live-streamed and are not connected to the N.J. Election Law Enforcement Commission. The Democratic debate is scheduled for Feb. 2 at 7 p.m. and will be attended by Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, Rep. Josh Gottheimer, Rep. Mikie Sherrill, N.J. Education Association President Sean Spiller, and former Senate President Steve Sweeney. The Republican debate is scheduled for Feb. 4 at 7 p.m. and will be attended by Sen. Jon Bramnick, former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli, former Sen. Ed Durr, and NJ 101.5 radio host Bill Spadea. The 2025 gubernatorial primary is on Jun. 10. Add to 📅.
