Newark library seeks vendors for a summer market on Jul. 10 and Aug. 7 at the Main Branch. The event is from 3-7 p.m. in the library courtyard. Tables are $40-50. Registration available online.

Community council meeting planned by Newark public safety on Jul. 10. Second precinct officers will host the meeting at 5:30 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church.

Newark 2024 LGBTQ+ Pride Festival events are planned every day through Jul. 14. There will be a cocktail fundraiser, community yoga, and a bar crawl, among other activities. Pride festival is scheduled on Jul 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Harriet Tubman Square. RSVP online.

Youth up to age 18 can receive free breakfast and lunch at Essex County Branch Brook Park this summer. Meals are available on weekdays. Breakfast is served at 10 a.m. and lunch is served at 12:30 p.m. at Sand Court Shelter. The program is available through August.

The number of N.J. public school students eligible for free or reduced-priced school meals will jump from 450,000 to 510,000 in September 2024 following an N.J. law signed in January that increases the program’s income limits. Under the Working Class Families Anti-Hunger Act, a family of four with a yearly income of less than $69,888 can qualify for school meal assistance. The total 510,000 students who are program-eligible represents more than a third of public school students in N.J.

Garden State Equality is accepting applications for youth entering grades 10-12 to join its 2024 leadership camp, “Changemakers Youth Leadership Initiative.” It will take place at Fairview Lake YMCA in Newton from Aug. 18-23. Attendees will participate in diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops, discussion groups that challenge biases, and activities aimed at fostering a sense of social responsibility. Transportation and programming costs will be fully covered. Applications accepted by email until Jul. 10. Add to 📅.
