Technology High School plans “Friendsgiving” on Nov. 16. All parents and caregivers are invited and welcome to bring a tray of food or dessert to share. The event will start at 6 p.m. and include a presentation on identifying your own strengths and recognizing your self-worth. Add to 📅.

Newark’s Weequahic High School plans “Open House and Registration Day” on Nov. 16. The open house will run from 6-8 p.m. students will be able to learn more about their Allied Health Services Academy, Jobs for America’s Graduates, and Pre-College Dual Enrollment programs. Newark library plans “Paint, Sip, and Snack For Adults” on Nov. 17. The program will run from 4-5 p.m. at the Vailsburg Branch. Adults will be able to paint whatever they like while enjoying light refreshments. Add to 📅.

The waitlist is open for Maplewood’s affordable housing applications. There are two units available at 1782-1792 Springfield Ave. apartment complex. Applications must be submitted by Nov. 21 deadline. The units will be filled via random selection from qualified applicants. Applications must be filled out online or by phone. Add to 📅.

Office of the Public Defender filed a lawsuit against the state police for allegedly failing to update expunged criminal records. 46K people have been waiting, some for years, for state police to update records that impact job and housing prospects. In 2019, the state police received $15M to update old data systems and hire staff to process documents within a reasonable timeframe. But the backlog has gotten worse, according to experts.
