Bloomfield animal shelter has waived all dog adoption fees for the month of October in honor of “Adopt a Shelter Dog Month.” Interested adoptees can fill out an adoption application online.

Bloomfield recreation plans “Haunted Pumpkin Patch” jack-o-lantern carving contest at Oakside Cultural Center on Oct. 27. Registration is open to residents age 10+, adults, and families. New Jersey Citizen Action is available to conduct free virtual or in-person workshops on fair housing rights and discrimination for local organizations. Workshops can be customized to respond to serve particular needs, including dealing with sexual harassment or discrimination against immigrants, Muslims, formerly incarcerated people, LGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, and other groups. Workshops are available in English and in Spanish.
