N.J. Hurricane Ida Mortgage Forbearance 2025 Deadline

February 26, 2025

New Jersey homeowners who were affected by Hurricane Ida must apply by Feb. 26 to receive foreclosure protections. The Hurricane Ida Mortgage Forbearance program will put some affected homeowners’ mortgage payments on hold for one year, and mortgage companies are required to pause all principal and interest payments for a year. It does not affect property tax and insurance payments. To enroll in the program, homeowners must also be participating in or have applied to other state disaster assistance programs, like the Homeowner Assistance and Recovery Program and the Blue Acres programs. The N.J. Department of Community Affairs must notify applicants of their application status 90 days after Feb. 26, or Mar. 27. The online application closes at 5 p.m.
