
New Jersey Democratic candidates for governor will participate in a state-sponsored debate on May 12 in Newark. It is from 7-8 p.m. at Agnes Varis Studios, 2 Gateway Center. Participating candidates are Ras Baraka, Steve Fulop, Josh Gottheimer, Mikie Sherrill, and Stephen Sweeney. Debate participation is required among candidates who raise enough money during their campaign to receive public matching funds. That is $580,000 or more for the 2025 gubernatorial race. The debate can be viewed on NJ PBS, NJ Spotlight News, WYNC, CSPAN, and other channels. The primary election is Jun. 10. Five Republicans and six Democrats are running.
