Columbia High School Spectrum Club and New Jersey Safe Schools Coalition “Community Candle Light Vigil in Honor of Nex Benedict”

Columbia High School Spectrum Club and New Jersey Safe Schools Coalition to host “Community Candle Light Vigil in Honor of Nex Benedict” on Feb. 24 in Maplewood. Benedict, a non-binary teenager who died on Feb. 8 after an altercation during the school day on Feb. 7. The vigil is designed to lift up in support of trans, non-binary and LGBTQ+ students everywhere and call attention to hate speech and bullying. The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Maplewood Town Hall, 574 Valley St. Counselors will be available onsite.
