Essex County Receives $46M Grant for Traffic Signal Modernizations

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority has awarded Essex County two grants totaling $46 million grant to modernize and update 54 intersections in nine Essex County municipalities on Monday, March 13th. The two grants - for 24,830,00 and $21,735,000 for a total of $46.565 million - is the largest safety-oriented award ever given by the NJTPA through its Local Safety Program.

Essex County Enacts Code Blue Procedures for Mar. 10-13

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. and Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura announced the Essex County's Code Blue procedures are being activated because of the weather forecast and the uncertainty of nighttime temperatures. Essex County is enacting its Code Blue protocols from Friday, March 10th to Monday, March 13th from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. during the overnight hours only. DiVincenzo, Jr. and Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura announced the Essex County's Code Blue procedures are being activated because extreme cold weather in the forecast. Essex County Announces Traffic Study for Watchung Plaza in Montclair

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced on Monday, January 23rd that plans were being designed to modernize the intersection of Watchung Avenue and Park Street/Watchung Plaza in Montclair. The improvements will enhance pedestrian safety and improve the flow of motor vehicle traffic through the commercial district.

Essex County Executive DiVincenzo Thanks TBZ Visitors for Contributions to Assist the Less Fortunate

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. announced that 88,652 people visited the Annual Essex County Holiday Lights Spectacular at Turtle Back Zoo and more than 15 tons of non-perishable food, clothing and toys were collected for those in need.

Essex County Deer Management Program

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. outlined plans for the 2023 Essex County Deer Management Program in Essex County South Mountain Reservation and Essex County Hilltop Reservation. This is the 13th time the program is being held and first time in two years because of the pandemic. The program is geared toward revitalizing the forest ecology by reducing the number of deer.

Essex County Declares Code Blue from Dec. 18 to 21

On Friday, December 16th, Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. and Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura announced the Essex County's Code Blue procedures are being activated because extreme cold weather in the forecast. The Code Blue will be in effect from Sunday, December 18th at 8 p.m. through Wednesday, December 21st at 8 a.m., nights only.

Essex County plans 2022 Holiday Food Distribution December 20

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. will present a Winter Holiday Emergency Food Distribution Event to help families negatively impacted by the pandemic or facing food insecurity. There will be 1,000 frozen turkeys and boxes of non-perishable food available on a first-come first-served basis until supplies last.

Essex County 2022 Holiday House Tour

Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. invites the public to celebrate the holiday season and participate in the Annual Essex County Historic Holiday House Tour. This year's tour includes 11 Essex County historic sites, which will be decorated for the holidays and open to the public for a weekend tour. The tour includes Essex County Kip's Castle and the Walther House at the Essex County Presby Memorial Iris Gardens. The self-guided house tour will be held Saturday, December 3rd and Sunday, December 4th at the following locations:
