ICE arrests in N.J. increase 110% between 2024 and 2025, according to Deportation Data Project

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers arrested 3,201 people in N.J. from Jan. 21 to Jul. 29, according to data by the Deportation Data Project, a group of academics and lawyers who obtain immigration data through the a federal law that allows the public to request government files, known as the Freedom of Information Act. That number is a 110% increase from the same time period in 2024, where the total number of ICE arrests in N.J. was 1,526. ICE agents arrested 2,959 people in N.J. by the end of 2024.

The arrests come after President Donald Trump’s executive orders signed Jan. 20 to ramp up immigration enforcement. The Jersey Bee has immigration resources at jerseybee.org/community/immigrants. Resources are available in English and Spanish.
