Joan R. White, 67, of Bloomfield

“Joan was cautious with her love, according to her sister, Carol, but once she was your friend, it was forever and she’d move heaven and earth to help if you needed it.'”

Joan R. White, a resident of Bloomfield and โ€“ for a time โ€“ California died at the age of 67 in Montclair, New Jersey on April 6, 2020.

Joan was a talented seamstress who loved embroidery and needlepoint, making wedding dresses, theater costumes, and work and play clothes.

She hoped to teach ESL, travel to Europe, and never missed a James Patterson novel.

Joan was cautious with her love, according to her sister, Carol Madden, but “once she was your friend, it was forever and she’d move heaven and earth to help if you needed it.” First and foremost, that was for her best friend and pet dog Mitzi

Joan’s love extended to working with children. She’d previously worked as a manager of a children’s department at Barnes & Noble. And while working at Bloomfield’s Home Depot, she made sure to attend every children’s gardening workshop they held.

Children loved Joan and her tenderness was apparent to everyone, according to her sister. “Joan will be missed by so many. Her passing leaves a huge void in so many lives.”

Joan was predeceased by her brother, John, mother, Joan, and father, John.

In memory of Joan, donations can be made to the Homeless Animal Adoption League here.
