Free, non-alcoholic paint and sip afternoon for adults planned by East Orange library on Dec. 18. There will be paints, juice, and light refreshments available from 6:30-8 p.m. Registration is required.

New Jersey residents can attend an online application information session for the N.J. Black Heritage Trail, a trail that identifies significant Black history markers in the state, on Dec. 18. It will discuss the nomination and application cycle for the trail at 12 p.m. All applicants must submit a letter of intent. Registration is required. Add to 📅.
New Jersey Historical Commission

Gov. Phil Murphy passed the “Freedom to Read Act,” a bill that limits book censorship in public schools and libraries and protects librarians from lawsuits and criminal charges. The law requires the state’s education commissioner to develop policies for local school and library boards to adopt, including how library materials are selected, challenged, and evaluated.
