Essex County has more than one hundred free food distribution efforts year-round. Through a complex and sometimes patchwork system, hundreds of food providers in Essex County source and distribute food aid daily. The Jersey Bee has created a guide explaining how food gets from farms, food banks, and supermarkets to the tens of thousands who rely on it weekly, and the limitations of the current system.

Orange public school’s plans free “All City Arts Festival” on Jun. 6. The festival will feature music and dance performances from students throughout the district. Performances will be from 6-8 p.m. at Orange Preparatory Academy of Inquiry and Innovation. Add to 📅.

East Orange plans 2024 Music, Art, and Culture Festival on Jun. 8. It is from 12-8 p.m. at City Hall Plaza and will include several musical performances, children’s activities, vendors, and a beer garden. Admission is free. Add to 📅.

The Newark Museum of Art plans “History Lesson Exchange Workshop with Naomi Kuo” on Jun. 8 in Newark. The workshop is scheduled from 2-4 p.m., and will involve sharing stories, knowledge, reactions, and questions inspired by the surrounding gallery artworks, and working on a collaborative art project.
