Bloomfield Animal Shelter to host “Cat Adoption Event” on Feb. 18. The event, scheduled from 12-4 p.m. at 61 Bukowski Pl., will feature reduced adoption fees and a selection of fully vetted cats ages 1+. Applicants must pre-apply for approval and appointment online by Feb. 16 at 5 p.m. Add to 📅.

Essex County activated Code Blue procedures from Feb. 13 to Feb. 20, helping people find shelter as temperatures drop below 32 degrees. Participating shelters and warming stations include Catholic Charities in Newark, Joi’s Angels in East Orange, St. Mark’s Church in Montclair, among others throughout the county. Verizon Wireless customers who had post-paid plans from 2016 to November 2023 may be entitled to a payment under a proposed class action lawsuit settlement. A group of customers alleged the company inadequately discussed an unfair administrative charge. Former or current customers can submit a claim by Apr. 15 to be included in the settlement.
