AAPI Montclair to host “An Afternoon with Author Ravina Aggarwal” for ages 12+ on Feb. 2 in Montclair. The event, scheduled from 4-5:30 p.m. at Montclair public library. Attendees will participate in a discussion of Aggarwal’s new book “Searching for the Songbird,” a Q&A with the author, and book signing. Mountainside Medical Center to host “Give Kids a Smile” program on Feb. 2 and 16 in Montclair. The event will be held at the Mountainside Dental Department located at One Bay Ave. from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The program, designed to provide free dental care for children 12 years old and younger, aims to serve children who may have limited access to dental care. Montclair Film plans a book talk with Odie Henderson and screening of “SHAFT” on Feb. 2 at The Clairidge. The event begins at 7 p.m. and a Q&A with Henderson will follow the screening. South Orange to host “Erasing South Orange Borders Run-Walk” on Saturdays starting Feb. 3. The run begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m., hosted by resident and founder of Erasing Essex’s Borders Stephanie Lawson Muhammad. Each route covers 3.1 miles and participants will explore South Orange borders that have historically impacted African Americans. The events are held each Saturday in February. New Jersey’s liquor license laws are undergoing significant changes for the first time in almost a century, with restrictions on breweries and distilleries also being loosened. Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages can now be offered, including collaborations with outside vendors and the opportunity to host unlimited onsite events. License holders must use or sell licenses that have remained inactive for two sequential license terms, according to the new law.
