Montclair recreation department offices are moving from 205 Claremont Ave. to 219 N. Fullerton Ave. The empty space in the Municipal Building will become a new senior citizen hub, and the Montclair Housing Authority/Section 8 is moving from the first floor to the third floor of the Municipal Building. All services will continue without interruption, according the the township.

Free tax preparation assistance with AARP representatives planned at Montclair library in the Main Branch. Appointments required and can be booked online. Time slots available Wednesdays and Thursdays from 10:15 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Women’s Club of Glen Ridge seeks donations of gently used furniture and home items through Apr. 19. Donations will be sold at its vintage tag sale, scheduled for May 3, and a portion of proceeds will benefit Covenant House. People must submit photos of their donations to tagsale@womensclubglenridge.com prior to drop-off.

Robert Frazer was recently appointed as N.J.’s U.S. attorney, or top federal prosecutor, by the U.S. District Court of N.J. Frazer’s appointment follows the disqualification of four U.S. attorneys chosen by the Trump administration. Among them was Alina Habba, who served as acting U.S. attorney for N.J. from July to December 2025. United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals Judge D. Michael Fisher ruled that Habba’s appointment is unconstitutional because Habba was not confirmed by the Senate or appointed by district trial court judges. The Trump administration chose Jordan Fox, Ari Fontecchio, and Philip Lamparello for the position, but U.S. District Judge Matthew Brann ruled that they are disqualified because their appointment was not approved by the Senate.

New Jersey residents can receive free tax preparation assistance with the AARP Foundation’s IRS-certified counselors until Apr. 15. Tax services can be prepared in-person or virtually, with additional options to self-prepare or drop off tax documents at a tax aide site and collect the return when it’s ready. Appointments may be required depending on the location. Residents can search for the nearest AARP tax aide site online and schedule an appointment if prompted.
