South Orange’s public works will collect leaves and branches placed at the curb starting Mar. 30. Leaves and branches are collected through Apr. 27.

South Orange police closed two pedestrian crossings after a recent fire at 51 South Orange Ave. The east and north crosswalks at Vose Avenue and South Orange Avenues are closed. People are advised to use the crosswalk at South Orange Avenue and Village Plaza instead.

Sunrise Clinical Lab in Irvington must repay N.J. more than $3 million after violating Medicaid regulations by routinely billing for drug tests without doctors’ signatures. The clinical laboratory violated Medicaid rules in 52 of 183 drug testing instances audited between July 2017 and April 2021, according to the N.J. Office of the State Comptroller. Sunrise did not perform at least one drug test ordered by a doctor in 44 other instances, the comptroller’s office said. In addition to repayment, the comptroller’s office made eight recommendations to Sunrise, including training staff on Medicaid compliance practices.
