Youth in grades 8-12 can receive grammar assistance at East Orange library on Feb. 17. The drop-in session is from 6-7:30 p.m. Students can bring papers, essays, or other assignments for grammar support.

Mammogram and cervical cancer screenings planned with University Hospital on Feb. 13 in Newark. Screenings are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Clinton Hill Early Learning Center. Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling 973-972-4055.

Essex County residents can complete a pre-test for English for Speakers of Other Languages conversation-level classes on Feb. 12 at Maplewood library’s Hilton Branch. Registration is available online. The pre-test is from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Classes are Thursdays from Feb. 19 to Mar. 26 at the Hilton Branch. Registration for the pre-test is available online.

We Start Here, a SOMA-based nonprofit, seeks immigrant storytellers for its “Stories Without Borders” event, scheduled for May 26. All proceeds from the event will benefit Make the Road NJ to support immigrant rights advocacy and legal aid for N.J. families. In-person auditions to participate in the event is scheduled for Feb. 15 at the Baird Community Center in South Orange. RSVP online.

North N.J. Democratic Socialists of America seeks monetary donations to support Muslim people detained at Newark’s immigrant detention center, Delaney Hall. Funds will support people who are cannot access designated prayer spaces for Salat, Halal meals and other food accommodations, and essential items for worship. Donations accepted online until Feb. 15 and must include a caption stating “Ramadan at Delaney.”
