West Orange enters mediation to resolve lawsuit challenging 2020 removal of Columbus monument

From TAPinto West Orange.

West Orange recently passed a resolution to resolve a lawsuit challenging the township’s removal of a Christopher Columbus monument in 2020. The complaints were dismissed twice by the U.S. district court. In September 2025, U.S. District Court Judge Claire C. Cecchi entered a mediation order, which is a dispute resolution process that requires both parties to meet with a mediator before the case goes to trial.
