Newark renamed the corner of Spruce and Quitman Streets to honor Blonnie Watson. Watson served as member-at-large, vice president, and president of the Essex County Board of Commissioners from 1997-2014. Watson also served on Newark’s zoning board and represented the 29th Legislative District, which includes Essex and Hudson Counties.
