REGIONAL NEWS

New Jersey’s low Medicaid reimbursement rates bar coverage and access for the state’s 200,000 Medicaid patients with disabilities, according to a NorthJersey.com investigation. It found that low Medicaid reimbursement rates results in a small percentage of doctors who accept Medicaid patients. When patients do find doctors, they reported experiencing rushed appointments, inaccessible exam rooms, and missed diagnoses, according to the investigation. It also found that there are five fully accessible clinics operating throughout the state and, at other clinics, accommodations are not guaranteed. These barriers led to patients skipping routine screenings and preventive visits, the investigation said.
