West Orange planning board to discuss West Essex Highlands Project Oct. 29

From We Care NJ.

West Orange planning board will meet on Oct. 29 to discuss the West Essex Highlands Project, which community groups have said will endanger wetlands and destroy thousands of trees. The project calls for a 496-unit residential development on a 120-acre tract of land at the Watchung Mountains. The proposed development would include 100 units for affordable housing, the township is obligated to create 231 new affordable housing units by 2025. Community-based groups Our Green West Orange and We Care NJ are concerned about increased traffic, floods, and drainage and soil erosion. The planning board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Public comment is only accepted in-person.
