SNAP recipients to receive benefits during October despite federal government shutdown, N.J. says

From New Jersey Department of Human Services.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients will continue to receive benefits for the month of October despite the federal government shutdown, according to the N.J. department of human services. The federal government shut down on Oct. 1 because lawmakers failed to pass a funding bill. SNAP benefits are unaffected because the debit-like card to purchase food is loaded one month in advance of use.
