School aide sues Bloomfield schools for retaliation after reporting teacher misconduct

Former school aide Amanee Mercedat is suing Bloomfield school district over claims that she was retaliated against after reporting teachers for harming students with disabilities. The lawsuit cites one teacher becoming physically and verbally aggressive towards students, and another teacher who removed a child from the classroom with no supervision. Mercedat was reassigned to work at a different school after reporting the behavior to district administrators, and was later terminated, according to the lawsuit. Mercedat is seeking damages including front pay, back pay, emotional distress, embarrassment and humiliation, attorneys’ fees, and costs of the lawsuit.
