Bloomfield-area youth can register for The Youth Lounge’s fall flag football program, scheduled to start Sep. 13. The season ends Oct. 18 and meetings are held at Watsessing Park. Enrollment fee is $165. Registration closes Aug. 31.

Essex County residents can apply for permits to host a picnic at one of five designated areas at county parks. Picnics are permitted at Eagle Rock Reservation, Glenfield Park, Grover Cleveland Park, South Mountain Reservation, and Weequahic Park. Permits must be submitted at least three weeks in advance of the event. Alcohol and loud music are prohibited. Picnic permit applications are available online.

Essex County health is offering vaccines for eligible children on Aug. 20 in Orange. Vaccinations are from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Upper Central Fieldhouse. Available vaccines include Hepatitis A and B, flu, and others. Book an appointment by phone or email. Free school supplies available on a first-come, first-served basis. Vaccine eligibility requirements available online.

About 500 N.J. residents who migrated to the U.S. as children will lose health insurance coverage on Aug. 25 under a policy change made by the federal administration. In June, the policy change was approved to block Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients from enrolling in health care plans on Affordable Care Act marketplaces. The decision prevents nearly 16,000 other DACA recipients in N.J. from enrolling in the state’s ACA marketplace, Get Covered NJ. In January, N.J. joined a lawsuit to increase healthcare protections for DACA recipients. That lawsuit is still pending, according to State Attorney General Matt Platkin.
