Gov. Phil Murphy orders state agencies to to review impacts of “One Big Beautiful Bill Act”

From Governor Phil Murphy .

Gov. Phil Murphy signed an executive order directing state agencies to review the impacts of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” on state budgets and programs. OBBBA is a federal spending law signed July 2025 that cuts funding for Medicaid, Medicare, and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Murphy’s executive order will require state agencies to evaluate how the spending law will affect N.J. residents and provide recommendations to address its impacts. By Oct. 1, agencies must submit to the governor’s office an assessment of the impacts and recommended legislative measures. By Nov. 15, all state agencies must provide the governor’s office with a list of recommended non-legislative measures. The executive order took effect on Jul. 23.
