MEND seeks monetary donations ahead of federal funding cuts

From The Village Green.

Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity, a hunger relief network based in Essex County, seeks monetary donations to support its services after the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced it will cancel $420 million in funds to local food banks. MEND said it will lose $150,000 in federal funding this fall under the Local Food Purchase Assistance program, which supports MEND’s fresh food deliveries to seniors, families, and people with disabilities. Donations will go towards fresh food deliveries, produce to N.J. farms, pantry restocks, and mobile markets. Donations accepted online.
