New Jersey’s Board of Public Utilities recently approved a plan to deduct and delay a total of $60 from electric bills issued to ratepayers in July and August. Under the plan, ratepayers must pay the $60 back in $10 installments, which will be added to bills between September and February. The BPU also said it will extend bill credits for low-income customers, waive reconnection fees, and extend shutoff protections to July, August, and September. Each N.J. utility company is participating in the plan.
