Nutley children in grades K-3 can register for the township’s summer lacrosse clinic, scheduled to start Jul. 9. The five-week program meets Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. at Glotzbach Field. Registration is $60 per player and available online.

Juneteenth cocktail fundraiser supporting Friends of Howe House planned on Jun. 20 in Montclair. It is from 7-10 p.m. at Art Is Bond, 8 Lackawanna Plaza. The event will honor three sites on the N.J. Black Heritage: the Howe House, the Montclair History Center, and St. Mark’s Church. Funds will be used to install a commemorative marker at the Howe House. There will be art, food, music, and remarks by The Jersey Bee Executive Editor Simon Galperin. Tickets available online for purchase. The Jersey Bee is a community media sponsor of this event.

The grant, provided by nonprofit KidsGardening, is awarded to 10 applicants. New Jersey employers must disclose salary ranges and benefits in job postings under state law that went into effect Jun. 1. The New Jersey Pay and Benefit Transparency Act applies to employers with 10 or more employees, including private and public employers. It also requires employers to notify current employees of promotional opportunities.

A new COVID variant, NB.1.8.1, is being monitored by the World Health Organization after a reported 518 cases across 22 countries, including the U.S., according to the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data. Infectious disease experts say the public health risk is currently low, but warn the variant could spread quickly. There are no active cases reported in N.J. Currently available COVID vaccines should continue to protect against symptomatic and severe illness from this strain, according to the WHO. COVID vaccines are available at CVS and Walgreens, among other locations. A complete list of N.J. vaccination sites is available online.
