Irvington library will be closed on May 21 for staff training. It will open again on May 22 at 9 a.m.

Individuals ages 18+ who donate $25 to Newark Pride will be entered in a giveaway for a chance to win two tickets to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour. The tour date is May 29 at MetLife Stadium. Winners are announced May 22. Entry guidelines available online.

Essex County high school students can attend the county’s 2025 youth summit planned on May 24 in Irvington. It is from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 1240 Clinton Ave. Attendees will discuss ways to improve health initiatives in the county. Lunch is provided and community service hours are given to attendees. Registration required by May 19.

Group hike honoring Mental Health Awareness Month planned with Outdoors On Purpose on May 24 in West Orange. Meet-up is at 8:30 a.m. at South Mountain Reservation. Attendees are encouraged to wear green. Donations of yoga mats, affirmation cards, and other items supporting mental health will be collected for a local nonprofit. Register online by May 22.

REGIONAL NEWS
Projects exploring how N.J. contends with its past can be submitted to the 2025 N.J. History Conference until Jun. 19. Submissions should focus on ways N.J. protects itself from its past, how it reconstructs the forgotten, and the ways in which these histories affect public spaces and conversations. Projects can include workshops, individual presentations, and full panel presentations. The conference is scheduled for Oct. 30 at The College of New Jersey. Proposals accepted online. Add to 📅.
