N.J. Democratic candidates for governor to participate in second debate May 18

New Jersey Democratic candidates for governor will participate in a second state-sponsored debate on May 18 in Newark. It is from 7-9:30 p.m. at the Donald M. Payne Sr. School of Technology. Participating candidates are Ras Baraka, Steve Fulop, Josh Gottheimer, Mikie Sherrill, and Stephen Sweeney. Debate participation is required among candidates who raise enough money during their campaign to receive public matching funds. That is $580,000 or more for the 2025 gubernatorial race. The debate can be viewed on Roku, YouTube, On New Jersey, and other channels. The primary election is Jun. 10. Five Republicans and six Democrats are running.
