West Orange mayor vetoes ban on gas-powered leaf blowers

West Orange Mayor Susan McCartney recently vetoed the council’s vote to pass a law seasonally restricting the use of gas-powered leaf blowers. McCartney claimed it would be difficult to enforce the law and track violations. Council members voted 3-2 against McCartney’s decision, which is less than majority and, under local law, means the veto holds.
