Newark school nurses see pay bump, higher tuition reimbursement, increased starting salaries in new contract
From Chalkbeat Newark.
Newark public schools’ 86 nurses are receiving a 4.5% annual pay raise, increased tuition reimbursement, and higher starting salary under a five-year contract that went into effect Mar. 1. Their workday also extended from six hours and 40 minutes to seven hours in order to align with teacher schedules. Newark Teachers Association, the union representing district nurses, spent almost eight months negotiating the new contract and nurses attended school board meetings urging for improved pay before the contract was approved.
