Hackensack Meridian Health removes Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield from in-network provider list, effective Jun. 1

More than 3.8 million people in N.J. insured by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of N.J. may pay out-of-network costs for care provided by Hackensack Meridian Health starting Jun. 1 if the insurer and hospital system do not reach a new agreement to stay in-network. Exemptions are in place for Hackensack Meridian Health physician groups, including primary care and specialty physician practices, and people enrolled in Braven Health, Medicaid, or Medicare. Hackensack Meridian Health is N.J.’s largest hospital system with 18 hospitals and more than 500 patient-care locations, including Montclair, West Orange, and Glen Ridge.
