Auditions for Nutley Little Theater’s production of “King Lear” is scheduled for Jan. 13-14. Auditions begin at 7 p.m. at Franklin Reformed Church. Callbacks are Jan. 15 at 7 p.m.

Free citizenship classes for Belleville-area residents starting Jan. 9 at Belleville library. Classes are from 5-7:30 p.m. and led by the Jewish Family Services of Middlesex County. Enrollment is $40. Register by phone or email.

Bilingual Spanish story time for ages 2-5 planned by Montclair library on Jan. 14 in the Main Branch. The event is from 4-4:45 p.m. Books are in Spanish and English. Songs will be sung in Spanish. Registration is not required.

Human Needs Food Pantry seeks dog and cat food donations in Montclair. Items can be dropped off Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 Label St. The pantry will also be open Jan. 11 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Donations can be sent to the pantry by purchasing items through the organization’s Amazon Wishlist.

Bloomfield residents and non-residents can register for winter programs through the recreation department. Programs include fitness, arts and crafts, and activities for children. They run through March. List of classes is available in English and Spanish. Additional $10 fee for non-residents.

New Jersey’s minimum wage increased 36 cents to $15.49 for most workers on Jan. 1. The minimum wage for seasonal and small employers will increase from $13.73 to $14.53; from $18.13 to $18.49 for long-term care facility workers; from $5.26 to $5.62 for tipped workers; and from $12.81 to $13.40 for agricultural workers.

Direct care workers, employers, and recipients in N.J. can share feedback about needs, challenges, and successes in the field during online listening sessions with N.J. human services Jan. 14-16. Direct care involves providing personal care and daily tasks to people who are not able to care for themselves. Listening sessions are scheduled at 5 p.m. The Jan. 14 session is for workers, Jan. 15 is for employers, and Jan. 16 is for consumers. Written testimony accepted by email. Add to 📅.
