West Orange council plans a public meeting discussing state grant applications for improvements at Degnan Park and Colgate Park on Dec. 10. Funds would be used to improve the walkway at Degnan Park and install an inclusive playground at Colgate Park. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at West Orange Council Chambers.

Free opening reception of “Two Ladies in Leopard” exhibit planned by West Orange Arts Council on Dec. 7. It is from 4-7 p.m. at 551 Valley Rd. Attendees will meet artists Judyann Affronti and Cathy McCoy Bristol as they unveil their first collaborative piece. The exhibit is available through Dec. 29.

Children ages 2-5 can register for Essex County Environmental Center’s “Little Explorers” program Dec. 9 in Roseland. The event is scheduled from 3-4 p.m. for ages 2-5. The program introduces children to plants, animals, and natural colors, shapes, and textures. The program fee is $15. Registration is available online. The program runs through Dec. 16.
