From NJ Spotlight News.

Irvington must build or rehabilitate 1,404 affordable housing units by 2035 to meet new housing requirements determined by N.J. Department of Community Affairs under a state law that passed in March 2024. Calculations include numbers for existing units in need of repair, 1,404, and the number of new units needed based on population trends, zero. Irvington is required to accept the housing calculations by Jan. 31, 2025 and adopt housing plans by Jun. 30, 2025 to show how and where affordable housing will be built.
